You AINT got DSL that provides 3gbps for starts! Maybe 2 mbps and I doubt that if its DSL! My guess would be more around 1mbps! Nextly, most ISPs advertise speeds that may be available under perfect conditions so dont waste your time thinkin you will get that speed!

If you're going directly from the router to your computer using an Ethernet cable, then even lower Ethernet speed (10Mbps) is faster than your DSL connection. You'd only run into problems if you had an older wireless router, where the wireless transmission speed is slower than your DSL connection. As far as I know, the 604 isn't a wireless router, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Keep in mind that advertised connection speeds almost never happen in the real world. If you want to check to see if the router is slowing you down at all, you can hook the output of the DSL router directly to your laptop, go on the internet at check out http://www.dslreports.com/stest where you can check your speed. Then hook the router back up again, connect your computer back the way it is now, and check your speed again. If you see a significant drop in speed, there may be a setup problem, but ignore smaller variances in speed because it's never consistent.

Hope this helps.

i ought to carry out somewhat extra troubleshooting first in the previous pondering a sparkling router. some a threat themes are a million) undesirable cable connection(s) 2) undesirable community card i recommend operating a speed try with each and every computing gadget examined in my view. Disconnect 3 different computing gadget's on the router because a nasty nic can deliver your community to a move slowly. in many situations, all computing gadget's must have similar try outcomes. If one or extra have undesirable outcomes, troubleshoot more effective - replace drivers, etc in the adventure that all of them have respectable outcomes, you could try updating the firmware on your router. If that would not help, you may favor to think about yet another router.

I serioiusly doubt that the DLink is going to slow you down much. At the very least, most routers are above 10 Mbits. Now, your DSL is 3 Mbits. Do the math. Just think of the megabits as water hose sizes.

yes, it will slow the connection down. The throughput is limited, and with a few computers, it will slow down.
Here's a very good rundown on routers and their connection speeds. (yours is the 3rd from the bottem).
