Hi Nadia!

BT Total Broadband really is crap. I suggest that you get rid of the Home Hub completely and buy yourself a bog-standard Belkin or Netgear wireless router - granted, you won't get services like BT Vision, when it does come out: but it's a small price to pay for a faster broadband connection.

Under British law, ISPs are required to give you a Migration Authorisation Code [MAC - not this is different to the code used to identify your PC: that's a Media Access Control]. If you use the USwitch website at http://www.uswitch.com and find a good ISP that you want to use - I suggest either Pipex [ http://www.pipex.co.uk ] or Orange [ http://www.orange.co.uk ]: and nothing you've not heard of. You then need to contact BT for your Migration Authorisation Code and give it to your new ISP of your choice [usually you'll need to phone them up for this]. After about ten days, your account will be seamlessly moved from BT to your new ISP.

Please note that you will lose any emails in your @btinternet.com email account. I think they can be transferred by BT, but just check before you switch to your new ISP [call BT Customer Services to check!].

Just to make sure BT cancel your account, phone them up and tell them that you are moving to a new ISP.

Good luck. I agree that BT are crap: especially for Internet connections.
