Think of an office environment. An important piece of paper of something is a file. A manilla folder holds files :)

All files in windows are organized by their folders. Music goes in the music folder. Photos in teh Photo Folder and etc.

Hope this helps! :)

A file is an individual piece of information read by a program, whereas a folder is an area where files are kept and a folder may store many files. Think of it this way, you have a bowl of chips. The chips are like a file in that they are only 1 thing individually and the bowl is like a folder because it can hold those chips.

A folder is a directory that can hold files. The files are the documents, pictures, or other objects your computer is holding.

It makes sense to keep them in separate folders by date and topic so you know where to look, rather than just stuffing them all into one "My Documents" folder.

A folder is like a briefcase or a bag that maybe contain files and maybe empty, and FOLDER doesnt have any extension. A file is like a book that contain contents and it does have extension. Extension is like human (human = file) that have gender, male or female. You can stores files in folder like when you've done typing using Microsoft Word, you can save the work/file to any folder. Like when you've done writing an essay, you can keep it in a bag or briefcase.

You put files inside of folders. Files are information, executables, pictures, text, etc. You group these things together and store them inside a folder.
