Well, to start, the reason I am doing this is for my ps3. The signal I am getting from my original Westell Versalink modem is too weak, so I decided to use the Linksys WRT54GS to get a stronger signal. Well, I followed the steps on the CD fine and hooked it up perfectly, but, when it came to internet connection (I have Verizon DSL), I chose DHCP Automatic. I entered all of the info, but when the linksys attempted to connect to the internet, it failed. I think it might be a problem with the Default Gateway of IP address, but I'm not certain of it. Please help me, I have been going at this for hours and I need some serious help. Thanks in advance.

I tried changing the Westell's IP address to 192.168.1.3, and then Windows said that there was an IP address conflict. Please help!

Is your local IP Address set to the same one as your ISP? Bellsouth is like that. The Linksys ships with 192.168.1.1 and Bellsouth has the same IP Address for the DHCP Server. You can change that in the Linksys setup to about anything you want, but it is usually easier to stick with something close. You might want to try 192.168.2.1. I hope this helps.

you cant use two routers on the same network. The westel needs to handle the DHCP of your network and the linksys is probably attempting the same thing.

somebody maximum possibly hacked in. Take your router, and interior the decrease back, there's slightly restart button, take a pin and press that for 30 seconds, it would restart and it would artwork. If not uninstall your modem out of your computer and reinstall (the cd that it comes with) it and start up the full technique back. i've got achieved it earlier after somebody hacked in and that i've got not had a situation in view that. in the adventure that your cdchronic on your individual computer would not artwork, do it from a computer. it somewhat is not important the place the cd gets put in as long because it does.
