I got a new PC for Christmas. It's a Dell Dimension E520 and it has Windows XP Media Centre Edition. I have a program called Dell Network Assistant which came preloaded on the PC. I have a Wireless Network running through my house and it worked fine on my old PC. But ever since I got my new one, it's been going on and off and my Dell Network Assistant constantly says its disconnected when it's not. Anybody have any solution?

In internet explorer, tools menu-connections-lansettings- proxy setting is disabled for me. if i want to use another proxy i cannot use. i want to know how to enable this proxy settings window to me. Top of lansetting window there is automatic configeration setting is there. this window i can access. bottom is proxu server settings. Kindly plz help if anyone knows answer.

ok we just upgraded our broadband and we are going wireless, when i orderd the wireless hub i was offerd usb conecters for pcs at £49.99 each. which i declined with the intention of buying one for less but my friends tell me my pc may already be wireless. how can i find out? also how can i set my wireless broadband up so that none of my neighbours can access my broadband or my pc? thanxs in advance.x

I want your help, my computer is running so slow,that this message may take sometime getting to you, should you happen to receive this message, could you enlighten me on what speed from my broadband conection is....On checking the speeds in the control panel, it states that the L.A.C connection is running at 100.0 Mbps and the 1394 connection is running at 400.0 Mbps.
Does this mean that im getting 1 megabite of speed ,will someone explain please Dave... still Learning..

I use a ADSL line with a netgear router, For some reason when i leave my comp onf or 4 + hours on hibernate mode when i come back to my computer it wont connect, i have to reset the computer. I have it set to never dissconnect so i dont know what the problem is, i tried it and it still does this after the routers tooken off and i just have my computer directly hooked into the modem itsself

Here's my setup:
4 Computers, all running Windows XP (workstations)
Linksys 8 port 10/100 switch
1 computer connected to DSL through a USB cable (server)

Switch says all computers are connected, with 3 solid lights.

I ran the XP Network Wizard on the computer with the DSL line, then used that info to setup the other computers with a thumb drive. (file / printer sharing enabled)

Not one of the computers can see another.

I ran a ping on each system, which can see it's own IP, but none of the others.

Bad switch?

I bought a wireless router recently to access my laptop and Wii (and hopefully soon, the Apple iTV). The problem is that the network is open and not locked from other people using it. I'm using OS X 10.3.9, but I can't figure out how to secure th connection so others can't access it or my data. Can anyone tell me or possibly send me a link?

I need to do this because I have a Wii and it will not stay connected when I use the Wi-Fi USB Connector.

Also if anyone knows on the "Nintedno Wi-Fi Connector Registration Tool" It says I am online some times (on the Wii) and others it says no one is. So if it says I am not connected to it does that really mean the Connect24 on the Wii is not working?

I am not one who knows all the computer talk by any means. if i can get a step by step tutorial on how to get back my internet connection on my main computer then i will be very greatful. I was unable to connect to the internet through the main computer about 2 hours ago. My internet connection on the other computer that is using the wireless pci card is working perfectly ok. (the computer i am using at the moment). again, this is a Linksys router i am having trouble with. i have tryed, resetting the router, restarting the computer, disconnecting and reconnecting the cable modemn, Repaired my connection, and troubleshooting.. I dont know what else to do.. Again, if you have any advice, PLEASE explain it to someone who isnt all that educated on computers. Thank you all so very much for the help.

Can i use router as a swtich?

this is the scenario:
i have a 2 router and 1 switch:
the 1st router is directly connected to the modem,
and the switch is connected to the 1st modem,
and my 2nd router is connected to the switch,

modem> 1st router > switch > 2nd router

but the problem is the computer connected to the 2nd router is cannot connect to the internet, but the other computer whose connected to the 1st router and switch are connecting to the internet.
Pls.. help i really need to finish set up this connection.
