you can go to start; connect to; show all connections;
if it is wireless you will find it there, also usually there is a button on the pc to switch onto wireless mode, from there you can make your settings on your wireless connections

Go to Control Panel and see if you can Wireless Network setup. Or else to device manager------> right click my computer on desktop---->properties-----> Hardware------>Device manager------> Go under Network Adapter green colour icon by clicking on plus sign in front of it.

Now whatever network adapter your PC has ill be displayed here. Be it wireless or wired LAN CARD. So if you cant see and identify anything here then your PC is not bundled with wireless card in it, and hence you have to purchase it.

Of course you can secure your broadband by a password which can lock others to use it.

Once wireless setup is done. Click on wireless icon which is present under your tray. Ill open one box which will show you your present connection. Click on right side in properties and configure to use it securely. And choose WEP or WPA authentication key. may be 5 or 10 digit respectively. Once you setup this, then you will also be prompted to put password for the first time you connect to it.

Hope it resolve your problem, Cheers. Gaurav.
