Wireless speeds are not as fast as cable, thats just a fact of life so far. If your wireless router is 802.11g then it should run ay a max of 54Mb/s, which is about half of your standard 100Mb/s wired network....

Isee you have a 802.11n router, which could be a little faster then 802.11g, but only if you are using an 802.11n adapter for your computer also, but still wont be as fast as wired.

What Taba said.
The only way to improve performance is with higher performance equipment. Depending on the type you use, it may interoperate with different equipment, however, performance between two computers will be limited by the slower equipment.
802.11b (11Mbps) and 802.11g (54Mbps) will interoperate but only at the slower 11Mbps.
802.11a (54Mbps) is only works with 802.11a as it uses a different frequency (some routers - $$ - support a/b/g and are called dual band, but generally, just avoid 802.11a)
There are also some "non-standard" devices out there and some newer, up-and-comming standards. For example "super-g", which is a 108Mbs 802.11g which is compatible with both b and standard g (at the respective slower speeds) but to realize 108Mbps, all super-g equipment typically must be from the same manufacturer. There is also N which is the latest/greatest standard. I haven't worked with N yet so I can't comment this one. In general it's best to stick with "like with like" to minimize potential complications. Although sometimes you don't have a choice for example with a laptop with built in wireless - just be sure your router is compatible with what your laptop has inthat case.
