I need to set up a computer that will host files for my office. We need to be able to connect into that computer from each PC in the office. We have DSL and all the computers are connected to the internet through a D-Link switch. Do I need to buy a router to accomplish this?

I just set up a small network with my desktop PC and a notebook at home using a wireless router, the desktop PC is connected to the router, and the other one, wireless. Everything is running smoothly except for one thing: the PC doesn't show up in the workgroup, I can access it by typing the name of the PC in the explorer address bar ( \\computername ). I can copy and read the files in it, so I just wanted to know what should I do to make the computer appear in the workgroup.

I have just had to sign up with an ISP with a data transfer cap having been on an unlimited tariff for the last eighteen months. I have no idea how much data we transfer each month but the limit is 30GB. My ISP is very reluctant to give me access to their monitoring equipment. So my question is: how can I monitor my usage, we have a 4 m/c network thro' an ADSL router, 2 teeenage kids who think bit torrents are 'wikked'...heaven help me!! !!
I have tried a few monitors off Zdnet but they only work when the m/c is online and the monitor is exe'd, discipline and teenagers do not go together. Is there a permanently online monitor site where you can register which also copes with DHCP IP variations, if not maybe there needs to be???...Yahoo could jump in here..Cheers

Ok guys, i use a Netgear Wireless Router G, and my internet was working fine. Then i decided to disconnect the router for a little while since i had not done so in a while and i do so regularly, then next thing you know when i connect it again it brings up a message that says "Connection Limited or No Connectivity" i thought it was Zone Alarm Anti Virus that somehow did this so i uninstalled it and same message came up. The odd thing is i have a labtop and IT RECEIVES THE WIRELESS SIGNAL PERFECTLY AND I BROWSE THE WEB ON IT PERFECTLY
the only problem is with the internet on my PC...i have a ethernet cable from the back of the router to the back of my PC, that same setup for years and this is the first time this happens....
i have tried everything and the same message comes up "Limited or No Connectivity"...is there a way i can reset my internet connection or something or the communication between the PC and the router?(i have tried resetting the router to no avail)
