The computer I am using right now is hardwired to my cable modem. I have a router that I have been using for at least one year. I have two computers besides this one on my network. Why will the hardwired computer recieve internet, and the other computers will not. All lights are illuminated on both devices, other than the DMZ light. Any help?

As soon as I take the direct cable from the modem to this pc and put it into the router, the connected pc's do not receive a connection even though the lights are illuminated.

The computers say they have a connection, but they don't load a homepage.

Your description doesn't add up. You simply connect a Ethernet patch cord from the WAN port of the cable modem to the WAN port of the router. Then connect your PC's to the LAN ports on the router.

Something is not right with the DHCP settings on your router. Go to http://192.168.0.1 as this is the default IP address for most home routers and find the DHCP settings. Make sure its enabled and broadcasting. Reboot all your machines, router and cable modem also.

Also check your network connection. Under it right click TCP/IP and view the properties it should be set to auto along with the DNS. Also from IE click tools then internet options, click connection and at the bottom lan settings should be set to auto also.
