XP offers printer-services for older PC by loading additional drivers for the selected printers for selected Windows OS.
once you check the box for (lets say) Windows98 it asks for a driver which i can't find neither on XP or Win98 .. so wheres the trick in this ?

Well, if I understand you correctly. You want to install a network printer.

1. In the add printer Applet choose "Local Printer attached to this computer"

2. Uncheck "Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer"

3. On the next screen check the option "Create new port"

4. Choose TCP/IP port

5. Enter the IP Address of the printer

6. Click next

7. From there select a printer driver

8. The rest is straight forward.
