'ping' needs to be run from the 'Command Line' (not 'Run')

Here's how to open the command line and a list of the commands you can use in XP.
Have fun

ping does not need to be run from the comand line.
it works for me ....
what is the exact text that you are typing ....
because when you type ping in a run window with no argument,
you get a window that just flashes in and out because it is
gone so fast.
are you on windows xp?
you can experiment in a command window, which is the same thing but easier and stays there.
click on dos prompt or type run/command.
then type ping yahoo.com and what does it say?

To ping any machine you should give a proper IP Address, if such msg appears that means the IP address is not correct or such computer is disconnected from the network eg. 1) maybe the cable is unpluged or network card got some problem

if you want to 'ping' some TCPIP address then at 'Start''Run' type [the] command prompt , or CMD to get into DOS layer [Assuming not a freakin'iMAC lol

What are you trying to do? I just tried it and nothing happens on my computer. Just a black box flashes then nothing. I'm running Windows XP.
