Yesterday, roofers cut shingles off the roof and little bits of tar fell on the hood, bumper and sides of my new car. I took it through a touchless wash, but it had been 90 degrees since 7 am, and the tar was baked on. Is there a way to safely remove these tar bits myself without ruining my car's finish, or should I take it to a detail shop?

Jorgensen Ford Detroit, Michigan is the new car dealer and they have had the worst service department in the United States. I am having problems with my 2002 Taurus and they have not even attempted to get the issue resolved. I was told by Ford Motor Company that they did not have any control over the dealership. Since the dealerships are authorized Ford Agents, it appears as if I cannot get my extended warranty enforced. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I always keep my car in fully automatic but when my boyfriend drives it he puts it in tiptronic. I hate him doing it because he really revs the engine and tries to get up to speed too quickly - it's a Punto FFS!

Well today I noticed that he nudged it up from 1st to 2nd when the revs reach four and a half. As I said, I'm clueless with engines but I think that that probably isn't good. My question is could this cause engine damage, or gear box damage and if so what damage. Or am I just being a scaredycat?

Whenever it hits a bumpy road surface it seems to swerve unsteadily and I have to pull the steering wheel to stop it veering to the right or left. Also when I pull away quickly at a roundabout, the car sometimes skids to the right and left, and if I hit surface water it also skids uncontrollably. Is it wheel alignment or balance or something else, please help?

There wasn't a gasket with the one I bought from Napa, should there have been?

Thanks!

My air conditioner is squealing in my 98 Toyota Avalon. It only does this when I start it and only lasts a few seconds, but seems to be getting worse. I know the problem is probably that the belt needs to be tightened or replaced, but I wonder what is the most cost-effective way of handling this? Should I fix it right away (will it cause more expensive problems down the road if I wait)? Can I just let it go until it breaks completely? How much should I expect to spend to have a shop do the repair for me?

Do they chip easier? How can they be as safe? If the recon. bumper is resprayed with a gray primer, will it be less likely to chip?

Is it just to pad their little score with a couple of points? I know that some questions are really stupid and don't justify a serious answer but a lot of technical questions that are ask by people who I assume are looking for help get answered by people who apparently pulled an answer out of their rear end because they are total BS.

I have a 1999 new body style Jetta. It is automatic. For the past few days it has been making a strange rattling noise when it is started and when it accelerates. You cannot hear it outside of the car, only when you are in it, and it sounds like it is coming from underneath the car.

It just started happening a couple days ago, but it is continuing to get worse. One person told me it was my muffler, but i want a second opinion... does anyone have any help they could give??? PLEASE~!!!!

My husband thinks it is a good possibility my '98 Grand Am is going to "blow a head gasket." I really do not know what this means. What will happen. He said it is an explosion in my engine, will there be fire, shrapnel, smoke, or a loud noise? I am really worried about my car blowing up.

I'm not sure what brand our garage door is but right now my dad has problems with the garage door. He says that when he uses the garage door button (you know the button that you use to open/close the garage) BOTH our and our neighboor garages open/close. Also, since we can't open it fron the inside (i think the circuit is busted) I would like to know a quick solution.

So i have a 93 camry 2.2 i4. I added too much seafoam through one of my vacuum lines and now the car won't start. I thought i might have flooded the engine while i was trying to turn it over all day. I pulled my plugs and i have left the throttle body wide open all day. After 12 hours of down time and drying, it will not start, it cranks but won't turn over. Any suggestions???

I have a 1998 Ford Contour with 70,000 miles. Last night I discovered that the temperature gauge was all the way on red. Having just arrived home, I immediately parked the car, and let it sit overnight in 55 degree Fahrenheit weather. This morning, I turned the key just partway, and the temperature gauge immediately went to hot (actually past red, all the way to the right). The engine was obviously cold having sat all night.

Water pump was replaced in January 2007. Air conditioning stopped working in September 2006, and has been to the mechanic for attempted fixes in January 2007 and May 2007. A/C seemed to work for a couple weeks after the May attempt, but is now not working again.

I'm calling the mechanic on Monday morning to schedule service, but logistically would like to drive the car to/from work through this Friday (20 miles roundtrip). Is this risking overheating, or do these symptoms just sound like an incorrect temperature reading? Thanks.

There is a tube like part that was cracked in half when the upper radiator hose was blown. The car is a 1994 acura legend, it still drives but I would like to know what that part is so I can look it up.
The part is circled in red.
