There are many things that would cause this condition, I would first check the Vacuum lines and see if any of the hoses are cracked, broken, or missing. Next I would look at doing a complete tune up on the car, Replace the plugs, Wires, fuel filter, Air Filter, change the oil and oil filter. replace the PCV valve, if you have the ability to do so. I would also look at picking up a can of BG44k Fuel treatment and use it at your next fill up. It's a fuel injector cleaner and fuel system treatment. It's one of the best on the market. Can often be found at Napa, Carquest, and selelct Pepboys. This should pretty much resolve any hard starting issues your having with the car and increase your decressed gas mileage. If you continue to still have problems then there is the possibility that you have low compression on 1 or more cylinders and you need to have the motor rebuilt.

ITS OBVIOUSLY A FUEL PROBLEM. You know how i know this... A fuel problem is one of the only things that will kill a car and not throw a check engine light. Everything else has a sensor lol. Try taking off the hose from the air box to the motor up by the motor and have some one start it. when its running have them give it plenty of gas and take a bottle of throttle body cleaner or carb and choke cleaner and spray that intake real good. if that don't fix it you may have low fuel pressure take it to a shop and have them check fuel pressure for you the fuel pump may be working still but too weak to make good pressure.

Vacuum leak in the intake.
A small hose may have come off the engine.

Or the EGR valve is stuck open.
EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. Intermixing the incoming air with recirculated exhaust gas dilutes the mix with inert gas, lowering the adiabatic flame temperature

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR,it compensates, fuel, vacuume, air ratios at start times[cold startes]and holds the gas pedal at a higher rpm till car warms up,then it releases to lower factory idle.
