What does it mean when I have to push all the way down to apply the brakes? And even when I do push all the way down, the car is still going, then it finally stops.They aren't squealing or squeaking. And it doesn't need brake fluid. It's a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 liter.. Any help plz...

i have a 2002 ford mustang v6 and my shop said it would cost 220 dollars to just change the front brakes with labor

or around 300 if i need the rotors replaced too


does that sound about right

ive just come back from a 342 mile trip to richmond in surrey uk. Pulled into a garage and the garage absoulutly stunk of sewerage, rotten eggs. Came home and noticed the smell was coming from under the bonnet and my car battery was hot and smoking. Any clues to why this happened

have a Camry whose check engine light has been coming on for several months. after thousands of work replacing parts, it kept coming back on.

recently replaced the battery because the car wouldn't start and the battery tested 50% or so. since the replacement the light has not come on again.

so could the battery have caused the check engine?

I drive a 98 Dodge Dakota, w/5speed manual tranny. I've been careful to keep up with oil and coolant changes, but what about the manual transmission? Its starting to make a little noise when the clutch is NOT pushed in. thats when it occured to me that I've never even checked the fluid level in the thing, and have no idea how to do so. Any hints?

I tried to start my car and it wouldn't. It couldn't quite crank over. A friend of mine checked the spark plugs and they were majorly gunked up. so I bought new plugs and installed them and my car started just fine. It started and ran good for about 4 or 5 days.

but then my battery went dead( It has the headlights that come up and down when you turn the lights on and off and one has been catching.) so I bought a new battery and my car started just fine. It ran good for about another 4 or 5 days.

I tried to start it and it wouldn't.(the battery is still good.) I've been told that it's not getting enough fire to it.

Im not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but about 8 months ago my speed o meter quit working and my over drive on/off button won't let me switch. The light blinks on and off in my dash. I can't tell if my car is in drive or over drive.

ive been told it might be the transmi but that cant have anything to do with it starting can it?

I nudged into my neighbours car this morning, and have made a crack in the paint about 3 inches long - there's no dent but there is a small crack. He's selling the car on Friday and has asked me for £200 to have it repaired. Is it necessary to have the whole car door resprayed, or are touch up jobs any good? I'm not sure if he'd go for it anyway, but I'm considering paying up to avoid claiming on my insurance. Is this a fair price - the car is white.

I have a 05' optima that needs 2 front wheel bearings. I am going to the dealership to have them replaced on friday. I was wondering how long they take to change, to decide if I want to wait there or have someone pick me up, cause I don't want to wait around all day. Thx!

Always keep a roll of two of electrical insulation tapes in your car. When you have a burst radiator hose while on a journey, you can use the insulation tape to wrap round the hose tightly. This should be able to allow you to reach the nearest help. You will be amazed how strong these tapes are. Always have a plastic gallon container in your car boot filled with water for replenishing your radiator and also for washing during 'emergency' cases.

I know it will blow up the engine but I would like to know what really happens inside. The sugar must dissolve to pass through the filter and carb, but does it reform into crystals and damage the cylinder walls, ruin the rings or what.

we have a 1995 golf...we were driving the other day in fifth gear and next thing the car started reving like mad... when we looked at the gear stick it was in fourth, I put it back into fifth and this time saw it slip into fourth..... we pulled in and turned the car off for a few minutes and then went back on our way... as we moved up through the gears absolutly no problem but when we hit fifth gear again it slipped back into fourth... We continued the rest of our journey going no higher than fourth and there was no problem.... but we cant use fifth gear... because of the hours i work i wont be able to bring the car to a garage until saturday so i just wanted to get some feedback before we go to the garage

About two weeks ago during a.m. commute, the "puddle" I ran my car into turned out to be about 2 ft. of water in a dip in the rd. My car stalled out, and was later checked out at dealership, in which they said they found nothing wrong. I opened air filter compartment and found lots of water. It runs- but starting it sounds awful, and it sputtered today after cranking it over. Is the water that was taken in going to ruin this car? Someone told me the sellenoid or starter should be replaced, but I can't tell the dealership about the water or my warranty is VOID! Please help.

I want to get a 2" suspension lift on my 04' jeep wrangler X. I currently have 31x10.50 MT tires . Will the suspension lift affect my transmission (auto), ride, or mpg? Also, I will need to add into the equation that I may get 15x8 rims vs. 15x7.

this car has been sitting in my yard for 10-15 years anyway it was supposedly parked because my dad wanted to put an alternator into it and convert it to a 12v system. i want to fix it and i want to know possible reasons he would have wanted to change it and what i need to do before i start it.
P.S. cant ask my dad he passed away (long time ago) most of the reason it sat there
