Well i done it ,put about 2 gallons on top of 3 gallons of diesel and it ran a bit crappy but I just syphoned it out when I got home and filled up with diesel again. A lot of folk say just top it up all the way with diesel and run it through. As long as you haven't got more petrol than diesel I reckon you'll be OK. Diesels run on just about anything and as long as you keep an eye on the tempoerature guage you've got nothing to worry about despite all the scaremongers.

surprisingly not that much, now lets get this straight...
you put petrol into a diesel car = just drain the full tank.
you put diesel into a petrol car, very expensive, the car will be ruined, or atleast you'll have multiple damaged components.
However, you'ed probably find it quite difficult to do the second one, putting diesel into a petrol car, as the nozzle at the petrol pump is a different size, its quite bigger!

It depends on the car.
If it is an older car, with low-pressure indirect injection and no electronics or catalyst there is probably no damage.
If it is a newer car meeting Euro III or Euro IV emissions regulations, using high-pressure (common-rail or pumpe-duse) direct injection, then you may have damaged the fuel pumps, fuel rail seals, injectors, etc. which could cost well over £1000 to replace.

I don't know but the results can't be good. diesel ignites from compression while regular gas uses a spark plug. the high compression of the diesel engine will cause petrol to combust way before its supposed to. petrol will ignite to easilly to use. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS ANSWER? you're giving me an inferiority complex.

I hope you havent but you wont be the first.Sometimes it depends on how much you put in as a small amount you might get away with it.If it was the otherway round then you must have your engine and fuel tank drained. To be sure ask your garage as you could ruin an expensive item

a lot.. due to the ignition temp of the 2.. and cataylic convertor etc..
it needs to be drained from the tank , and not driven..
new engine is far more expensive.
