I nudged into my neighbours car this morning, and have made a crack in the paint about 3 inches long - there's no dent but there is a small crack. He's selling the car on Friday and has asked me for £200 to have it repaired. Is it necessary to have the whole car door resprayed, or are touch up jobs any good? I'm not sure if he'd go for it anyway, but I'm considering paying up to avoid claiming on my insurance. Is this a fair price - the car is white.

www.chipsaway.co.uk are pretty good, but it depends on the car. If its an old banger then I would get them in (probably do it for £50-100). However if its a decent motor then a full door respray is the only real solution. £200 sounds like a fair price to me. The colour won't make any difference.

the paint probably needs blending into the other panels to keep the colour right you didnt say where the damage is so i couldnt tell you if a local repair (touch up) could be done £200 is probably about right if thats the case

Sounds about right to me. I doubt a touch up job would suffice.
