My 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis sounds like it is out of oil when starting. Is okay after the oil pressure comes up in 1 to 2 seconds. What needs to be replaced?

I currently own a 2001 Ford Taurus w/ 130,000 miles. I owe $3,000 on the car and my monthly payment is only $160/mo. Since I bought the car, I've kept up w/ the maintenance - always doing oil changes, fluid changes, break jobs, new tires. Those things aside, in the past 2 years, I have also had done...

Breaks & Rotors,Battery, Rear Wheel Cylinders, Cut Front Rotors, Serpentine Belt, Break System Flush, Transmission Flush, Coolant Bottle, Driver's Side Seatbelt, Transmission Axle Seals, Power Steering Flush, Relay/Control (Air Conditioner), Fix Wire Harness Plug (Air Conditioner), Compressor, Evaporator, Replaced Ignition Coil, Spark Plug Wires, R&R Intake Replaced, Replaced Lower Hose & Thermostat Housing

Now, my engine runs really hot all the time and I'm being told it's another $1,200 for a new radiator & water pump.

In all, I have spent $8,500 on repairs in the past 24 months. I drive 150 miles a day.

Do you think I am beating a dead horse? Or, is it worth keeping alive?

So Today while I was driving I heard a rattling that’s sounded like it was coming from my engine. It actually sounded like a rock banging around in there or If you were dragging something under your car. I pulled over and checked there was nothing under my car or in/under the hood. I drove it a few minutes later it stopped. Today when I got home I went to pick up my child and I heard it again for a few minutes… Then it disappeared. I have no idea what it can be… I do have a worry as I took my car to get an oil change and the old geek there said I should get a Transmission fluid change as I am almost due. I explained that my vehicle only has 30,000 miles on it and its under a year old. I told him I am an investigator and travel all Highway miles with the car…he said in a creepy way. “it would be a shame to spend more on a major repair” and walked away. I’m thinking that douche put something in there or maybe I just paranoid…..My vehicle is a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. Does anyone have a clue on what this could be?

We just changed the plugs and wires. The service light is on. A diagnostic test said it is a random misfire. What could be causing this?

I have a 1992 Astro Van that I bought used. It was running fine for a month or so, not it wont' start. It's getting gas to the engine and spark, i changed the spark plugs and it started then stopped. Now it won't start. I went to change the fuel filter and saw that it didn't have one! Just a rubber hose where the filter should be. So now I ask, if it's been running without a filter and now it won't start, what might of happened? is the fuel injectors clogged or something??

I checked my transmission fluid over the weekend, one day it was low, but I don't think I let the car run long enough, for two minutes before checking it. On Sunday, I ran the car for ten minutes into town and back, I checked it again, and got a different result, the transmission fluid looked like it was a couple of inches above the full mark.

I took it into Canadian Tire and asked them to drain some of it, they did the opposite and said it was low and added in more. I ran it home and the fluid was higher on the dip stick then it originally was yesterday.

I drive a 94 Achieva S, automatic.

So how do I know if its at the right level or not? How long should I run it for before checking it? Need some help.

Thanks
Lindsay

My 1995 Trans AM has been in the shop since Friday the 13th . I took it in because the motor for the power window and the A/C compressor did not work. I rented a car so I am paying $32 per day. The motor was replaced and it worked, then they replaced the A/C compressor, well unfortunately it did not work. He said that the compressor works, but for some reason it is not cooling my car. They flushed out the system and put in freon and nothing happened. My car was supposed to be ready last Tuesday at the latest, the rental cost is killing me. If he can not fix it tomorrow should I just pay him for the window and the cost of the compressor, the cost for everything, or pay him for only fixing my window?

Ok... I have an 05 Infinity G35 coupe... and it breaks down on me... i tow it to the dealer.. for them to tell me that its the Mass Air Flow Sensor... i purchased this car used... and to find out this is now the 3rd one that has been on this car... they are telling me its because the prior owner put a Fram air filter and not a dealer filter... now here is the question.... is that a true statement or is there somemore wrong with my car that needs to looked at.. my feeling is that there is something more going on here...

Last week I was driving home from work when I noticed my car was smoking and temp was at red. I pull my car over as soon as I could but not before the car steering became tight. it was towed to dealer service center were less than 2 months ago had oil pan, oil filter and sway bar replaced and they were supposed to check the car for any other problems (they gave me a check list all stated good). The mechanic called me the next day and said it was a water pump and radiator hose $450 then later said spark plugs were black another $180 then called and said I need a new motor $5800 and none of it is covered under warrantee. I still owe $6400 on the car and planed on trading it for a new car but now I do not think a dealer would take it for a trade in and I do not think it is worth me putting all that money into even if I had it. What should I do? You know of a dealer that would trade it in as is?

I have a 1994 Chevy 3/4 ton. It was overheating, so I had the thermostat and water pump replaced. It ran good for 2 days, then the temperature needle started going all over the place. A friend said it is probably a bad thermostat. Is it that or could it be something else?

My car shakes and shudders on the freeway starting at around 60 mph, and ending around 70 mph. It started out gradually, a few weeks ago, but got worse very rapidly. When I ran a search on that symptom on car related websites, the diagnosis that always came back had to do with the axle assembly or suspension. THe most common suggestions were to check the ball joints, cv joints, and cv boots. So is the cause of this problem likely to be the engine mounts, like my mechanic is telling me? If it's not likely to solve the problem, does it even matter? If I don't replace a defective engine mount, is it going to damage my engine over time, so that I should really be getting it fixed right now either way? Or should I take my car to a second shop and get a second opinion? It's sounding like the engine mounts will be a somewhat expensive repair. I have a 1996 Toyota Camry with approximately 125,000 miles on it, if that matters at all. Thanks a lot.
