Your 2000 Town Car should have coil on plug ignition, retrieve the codes from the PCM, it will tell you if there is an ignition coil primary circuit failure, it will also give you codes for a cylinder missing. That should get you to the right cylinder, if there are no code for these you should get codes for any other problems, I would guess that you will get lean code for the fuel system, it sounds to me like you are having a fuel delivery problem, pump/filter. To find this out you need to check the fuel pressure with a gage, there is a test port on the fuel rail for this purpose.

You have 4 coils. They are best tested with an ohm-meter.
There is a pretty good chance that you didn't replace the wires correctly.
Look closely at the coils, and the cylinder numbers are marked on the tops of the coils. Be certain that you place the wires on the correct plug. All of the plugs from 1-4 are on the passenger's side, counting from the front (#1) and all of the cylinders from 5-8 are on the driver's side counting from the front (#5).

Take out the spark plug and put the bottom contact on the metal part of the block. Turn over the engine and see if it is sparking. Be careful not to get shocked use gloves it won't kill you but it will piss you off. If it is firing properly double check the firing order if it's not that then the car probably jumped time.

if your going to do this yourself there is a little tool called a spark tester (at most parts stores for about 15 bucks)that you can put on your spark plug and then put the plug wire on the tester start the car and see if the light flashes.

Have you replaced your air filter. Your fuel pump might be going bad. If you have fuel injection the injectors might be clogging up or some may be bad. Also your Catalytic Converter may be bad.
