We just changed the plugs and wires. The service light is on. A diagnostic test said it is a random misfire. What could be causing this?

Change the rotor and cap also. could be moisture, could be a worn out rotor. and check the timing just in case

You need to change the cap and rotor as well. Did you gap the spark plugs? It could be a fuel injector clogged or bad if it is the same cylinder every time.

My bet is the rotor is wearing out.

you may want to check all the vacuum lines for cracks that would let unmetered air into the engine (causing lean misfires across all cylinders)
