I have a 1998 escort ZX2. I have replaced the belt and tensioner and the belt still comes off. It may go a couple of days or a couple of weeks before it comes off again. Usually happens while I am at a stop and engine is at idle.

My alarm is sounding for the airbag or seatbelt pretensioner fault. My mechanic says it is usually a seatbelt pretensioner but it will cost $55 to put the scanner on it to check which one it is. That's fine however apparently after the seatbelt pretensioner is replaced then apparently the module has to be reset which it usually refuses to do and a new module is needed. This can be up to $600 I was told! Does anyone have experience with this repair? Anyone had it done or anyone do them? Is this module story common? Thanks, JO

This is more of a warning than a question. Do NOT take your car to car x or midas for work. They will rip you off!! Ask around, find a reliable place and take it there. This is from experience!!

I have a hex bolt jammed in the bottom of my Yamaha Virago's lower fork tube. The head of the bolt is countersunk into the end of the tube, so I can't get a vice grip around it to twist.

I have tried damn near everything to get it out: I soaked the part in WD 40 for two nights straight. I tapped on the head with a drift to try and loosen the threads. I tried an impact driver, it unscrewed a quarter turn then stopped, and ended up gouging up the head, distorting it and possibly expanding it further into the part. As a last resort I tried torching the thing and it did nothing.

I really don't want to drill it out. And I'd rather not pay the shop to do it. Any suggestions?

JB

What other things make your car vibrate. My wheels are balanced, when u put your feet on the gas it feels like its vibrating and the wheel is vibrating to, it does that when i go on freeway. Can it be because of the engine mount or something else..

I have a Monte Carlo LS 3.1. I had the lower control arm on the passenger side replaced and a couple of days ago, I was turning into my apartments and all of a sudden my car made a jump and it wouldn't move. I got and I saw that my wheel was practically off, I mean the side of my car and my wheel, made a T shape, with the top of the t being the wheel. Thats what it looks like. Also, the bolt from the lower arm was missing so that's how it came out of place and my cv joint came apart and the green grease was everywhere. Anyways, I jus went out to crank it for the first time since I had it towed two days ago and the car cranks but it cuts off like 2 or 3 seconds after that. What's going on? Is it b/c my car's a front wheel drive and since the front is on one wheel and the engine isn't stable, the engine can't perform? Or is it something else? But what?
