please explain what a servo is and how it works

Tom Servo was one of the smartass robots who made rude commentary about bad sci-fi movies on Mystery Science Theater. The early episodes with Joel (who created the series) were funnier.

Model air planes radio controlled use bidirectional electric motors and gears to move a lever ( Servo ) A heater box under the dash board needs a flap opened for fresh air or closes it is moved by a electric ( servo ) Or a vacuum solenoid valve opens a port allowing vacuum to a vacuum motor some times called a ( servo ) to move the same fresh air door. So any remotely controlled device can be called a (servo) Actually Short for electrical device that keeps cold air blowing on the floor instead of in my face device.

Servos are used in a lot of different ways.
In a hydraulic system a servo is powered electrically to open and close valves.
They can be used to move linkages, change the direction of flow, open and close switches, etc.
Not quit sure what you are looking for.

hydralic,pnumatic or electric? metered? basically it ,s just a powered device that moves something else,lets say for instance your power door locks,just a simple magnetitc coil with a spring and a rod inside a cylinder,cyl being coil,add dc current, moves rod,locks door, if i go any futher it get,s really complicated and i dont type that good, oh buy the way electric servos are not servicable.

servo on what ? cruise holds vacum so you stay at steady speed
