I have a 91 Honda accord just got a paint job on it 2,000 dollars, but in a 800 dollar sound system and I'm looking forward on doing a little maintainence on the carpet. But can I put a mustang motor into this car? No dumb answers please

In a word - forget it! There's no way the Honda will accept a 'Stang engine; besides being a front driver, the power of the Ford engine will tear it up faster than your wallet can empty (and THAT'S pretty darned quick!). If you're enamored of the Honda (and given the money you've wasted on it to date, you obviously do like the vehicle), why don't you just look into speed parts and/or engine rebuilds/modofications that actually are practical? Good luck!

You're going to be in for some fun. You've should have just enough room in there to fit (i'm assuming SOHC as 26 inches) , but I believe you'll have to cut back the steering column and depending on how you've got it set up may need to change out the exhaust manifolds (though it sounds like you're going with headers, so those should squeeze things in a bit assuming it's fairly short, probably better of going with something from the mid-70's). You'll find you're using mostly parts from your donor car, I don't think you'll need to do completely custom parts, but you may find some strange bedfellows in your parts, I put a SB 350 from the 70's into a 57 Chevy at one point and found I was using all sorts of parts, from 4 decades and 3 manufacturers. Lastly, expect this to take you somewhere between 50-75 hours if you know what you're doing. If this is your first engine swap be prepared to double that, so realize it's not a one-weekend project. Forgot one thing - Different engine means different stress points as well - you'll want to read up on that and make sure you get good engine mounts, with the extra power expect to replace the drive train, or at the very least the transfer case (probably going to do with a dana 20?)

No. If you want to put a V-8 motor in your car it has to be from a front wheel drive vehicle. There are no FWD transmissions that are compatible with a Mustang engine, V-8, V-6, or them late 80's 4-cyl turbos. You need to look into the old Cadillac Northstars or something FWD. Even then, it would be ridiculously expensive and time consuming. 99% of the mechanics you ask will tell you to take your buisness elsewhere, or do it yourself.

Mustang Rotors on an Accord, Ford components on a Honda,
Not impossible, but will be expensive.

If you really want massive rotors for your Accord, you can check out aftermarket companies that do this type of conversions or you can find other Honda models for the brake rotor swap that you are looking for: NSX, CRV, Integra R.

But using Ford parts on a Honda, the compatibility might not be there. And it will be really expensive to take this route.

Good Luck.

Yeah, you can cramp a real engine in it, but you are really going to have your work cut out for you.

I have done a job like this one that you are talking about.

How about this!

1974 Ford Curior Pick-Up, standard equipment was a little 2 liter 4 cylinder.

How about installing a 502C.I.D./502 H.P. Chevrolet in this bad boy!

You are basically going to have to build a complete subframe for the car and this subframe will need to support the engine, transmission, driveline and rear-end.

You are going to be turning your Accord into a rear wheel driver, and trust me it can be done, but you are going to have your work cut out for you, and its all going to start with a cutting torch and making a good friend at a Metal Fabrication shop. But the biggest issue is going to be expense. You are not going to be able to keep it a front wheel drive, the 5.0L is too big.

It can be done, and I am quite sure that it has been done. You might start hitting up some of the custom car shows in your area and have a good look at the work that goes into lots of these machines. The only legal issue that you are going to have to get around is the State of California and their smog laws if you live here.

Anyhow, good luck!

you're asking if if you can use Yen to buy something in America. Honda and Ford have completely different build of cars. just to fit the engine into the accord you would have to completely move around everything and edit the body so that its not aerodynamically sound. it would cost way to much to even make it work.. let alone perform well. and if you're driving a 91 accord im sure you cant afford it.. be happy with what you have. hondas are great cars... dont ruin one.

Is it possible??? They say anything is possible. However, it is improbable. There is no practical way to do it. Why not just sell the Honda and buy a mustang GT? Then you have something to work with. Put your money into some American iron. good luck.

No way dude. You can get mustang type numbers out of a Modified Honda DOHC anyways and there is TONS of aftermarket parts support for Honda's too.
