OMG no way, I went and Bought my own brakes at an auto parts store. Talked to a local mechanic at a small garage. He came to my place and replaced the brakes took him all of 30 minutes I paid him 60 bucks for the labor he was done.
Shope around at Auto parts stores, Checker Auto, Advanced auto parts tell them what kind of ride you have and ask how much the brakes are. Go with the most affordable you will save alot of money this way. Plus you'll get a good warrenty
Then go to some of the smaller garages and ask the guy how much to replace my brakes, I have them here in the back. Shouldn't cost you more that 60 to 80 bucks plus the cost of the brakes, maybe 100 dollars.
If you need new rotors thats a completley different ball park, your looking at...at least 1000. Hope thats not the case.

That sounds high to me. Let's assume top of the line ceramic brake pads $80, that leaves $140 for labor, to do a 20-30 minute job. Rotors would be extra, of course.
If you have some basic tools, you could do this yourself with the new rotors for under $125. Front disk brakes are just about the simplest thing you could fix on a car.
I suggest ceramic pads because they don't produce the filthy brake dust.

The best brake pads cost around twenty-thirty dollars.
You knock out two pins holding the caliper to the caliper mount, remove it from the rotor, compress the caliper piston with a C-clamp to depress the piston back into the caliper, install the new pads, knock in the two pins to attach the caliper to the mount and pump the brakes back up inside the car.
Now you tell me. Does $220.00 sound expensive to just do that?
Rotors cost about forty dollars each at the auto parts store. If you don't feel a pulsating throb when you apply the brakes, or any grinding noises, you don't need rotors.
I hate auto mechanics.

Ha! Rotors are the big cost. That fee seems out of line. Look up Great Bear, King Bear. Midas.

Yes, but you should not need the rotors done. Do NOT go to Midas - they will always say you need the rotors done.

thats pretty high. i think its usually a little over a hundred dollars just for pads. I usually do this myself so it only cost me about $25 and 30 minutes of my time.
