I got weeds/wheat all wrapped around the drive train and had to pull them off in order to get the car to switch out of first gear (they got so thick that it knocked the gears out of whack). There was still weeds wrapped around the back axle area when I started driving and most of them came off just by driving the car and there were still some hanging form the back axle when i parked it in front of my house. I came out the next day and there was a puddle under the back axle, around the area where the weeds were hanging so i just thought it was because the weeds were all wet and water dripped off them overnight but when i looked closer the puddle had the rainbow look as if it was oil or something. Im confused because i dont think that there could be an oil leak by the back axle but it has that look although it is more watered-down than oil would be. Could the weeds/wheat give that same rainbow appearance to the water? Or could there be an oil leak back there? Is there anything else?

So I just purchased the above vehicle (it didn't come with a manual) and i have a few questions about it.
1- How can I program the built in garage door opener so that it is configured to my garage?
2- The passenger side door seatbelt won't move, similar to the way that it gets stuck when your foot is on the brake. How can I fix this?
Any answers appreciated. thanks!

I asked a couple of days ago about my engine vibrating and was told it probably was an engine mount..well, its not.
So, I have a 97 Ford F250 7.3 diesel. I wanted to know if my injector pump is bad or an injector? How would I know? Yesterday it lost power bad, no exceleration (press on the gas and go no where), and vibrating. I love my truck and want it fixed but don't have a lot of money to drop, and have major trust issues with mechanics. A freind mentioned a "fuel water seperator filter"? Where is that? I guess I need to buy a book, I don't know where the injector pump is either. Any ideas would help!
It seems to run fine one moment and worse the next. I am prepared for bad news....I have had the truck a week by the way.

I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant with 140k miles. Then engine light is on and when I took it to get checked out they told me it was the cat. converter. I took it to get replaced and the mechanic told me there was nothing wrong with it. The car has been getting lousy gas mileage and it burns oil off quickly, always requiring an oil change sooner then scheduled. The whole car shakes when stopped which leads me to think its the mounts, but considering all the other problems it points me to something being wrong with engine. I recently changed plugs and wires and was advised that they are firing correctly. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhuette (minivan)

The brake lights are acting weird, when you press the brake, instead of just lighting up the brake light bulb, it lights up all 4 bulbs in the taillight assembly (brake, reverse, turn, tail lights)

On one side, the bulbs are all really dim, so at first glance it looks like the bulbs are out, but they really are on, on the other side, they are a bit brighter but still all of them light up.

If you use the turn signals while the brake is not on, they work fine, but when the brake is on, they act funny also.

Any ideas what could cause this? All bulbs are working, my thought is there is a problem with the computer but I'm trying to avoid paying the dealership to fix it.

We recently bought a 1994 GMC Jimmy from someone and it appeared to be a great truck. My husband took it for a test drive, tested out the 4 wheel drive, there were no problems at all with the truck. About a week later, once we got it titled and in our name it started having issues. The first thing we noticed was a good bit of white smoke while was driving. It's not constant, it just does it for like 30 seconds, then stops. It does it every now and then. When my husband was driving about 75 and let off the gas, the engine was still revving high and then slowed down. He said it was a loud whining sound, he thought the engine was going to blow. Then he started having troubles starting it. He would turn the key and it would make the cranking sound but it would take forever for it to start. Now today the battery light came on. We have had the truck for all of maybe 2 weeks now. What needs to be done and what are we looking at paying? Thanks in advance!

I have a 58 chevy that I need to tow to the mechanic. It hasn't been driving for quite some time, and I think most of the tranny fluid has leaked out. Can I tow it about 8 miles in neutral without fluid?

1996 Nissan XE 4cyl 4x4
Symptoms: Squealing coming from front driver's side wheel area. Only happens after going over a rough bump or speed bump. Sustains noise for a minute to several minutes after going over the bump but stops when I stop or apply sustained pressure to brakes, even though the truck is still moving. Squeal reduces pitch as truck slows.

The squeal sounds like rubber rubbing against rubber.

The squeal isn't always constant but SEEMS to follow a slight warp in the disc of the front brakes. The braking is smooth and doesn't shake the truck or the steering wheel. The alignment is straight on.

Recent work: New right axle and boots. Corrected worn-out connectors of gear shifter to reduce wiggle in shifter. Had clips replaced at left and right brakes (were found to be missing from last brake job). Brake pads are in good shape. Had front suspension bars replaced. Had steering worked on to reduce play (dead spot in the middle of the steering).

Any ideas?

I was hoping to get better fuel consumption in my automatic car by moving to neutral and coasting down some of the steeper hills, instead of just taking my foot off the accelerator. Certainly the rev counter is lower when coasting. I was told ( by a pub expert) though I was not improving efficiency - and that in modern cars, if the engine is not labouring it shuts down the in flow of fuel somehow. I dont know......

Well the blinker fixed itself so it's just the brake lights now.

....I see it...
....What am i supposed to do to it?
