I installed the 1997 version when I need the 1998 now.. everything is working.. tap into the right stuff using a tester to see what was what from the factory connecter. Now I want to make my deforst button work. I need to know the color code for the factory radio connector or if someone can tell me the location of the two wires for the defrost button. One is for the light and another for the actual switch. I have a 99-5715 from Metra I need to connect my defrost button. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

For about a month or so now, my car has been squeaking/screeching as I drive, and most especially when I brake(the squeaking started happening when I would brake, now it's constant). On top of that, my brakes have also been making a "grinding" sound for the past week.

My friends have been telling me stories about people they knew whose brakes just.. "went" on them. They just gave out, and they either got in accidents or close to it. Is this really possible?

Also, what is the possibility I only need my brake pads replaced, as opposed to completely new brakes? I'm planning on getting a new car soon, but while I save up, I have to deal with this one.. and I'd really prefer to put little to no money into it.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

My car starts to gradually overheat everytime I drive it so I have been turning the heater on full blast and it drops the tempreature back to normal. Any help or advice would be great also any possible solutions. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money because I only drive my car to work and one way to my job is about 5 miles. I honestly drive about 10-15 miles a day on the car. I paid 500 dollars for it and I have had it for 3 months. Thanks.

I have a 1992 Ranger with ~205k on it.
The engine is starting to burn a little oil when its cold, but i'm just wondering what would be the best things to do with it (simple stuff like plugs etc.) and also if its worth putting work into cause i dont really know how long these engines usually last.

I have an 03 Pontiac Sunfire. While on vacation my
check engine light came on & before heading home, I got a mechanic to check it out. He said it
was a bad sensor - the one that tells the car what gear it's in. He said it would not strand me nor would I probably notice the car running any differently. Dumb question here - if put the car in
R I go backwards, if in D I go forward plus the car does change gears correctly. Why would the car need to "know what gear I am in". What type of sensor tells this?
THANKS!!!!

The last one seems to have worked, no more dripping, or pouring when car is hot. Drove it on several short (ussual distance it takes to dump fluid 7 or 8 miles) trips today to check if it would dump after stopped (that is what it does). BUT on the last leg, the gage went beyound hot...after showing no sign of leakage. ???? Please help, I can do some work myself and can not afford a new rad or the labor right now.

I used water to mix. Could it have burned up, or do you think my thermostat is gooked up. Please help, desperate and POOR, (for now). I needed the cheapest possible fix, even do it yourself kinda of stuff, since I have done some work on cars, but older cars and race cars.

My waterpump is new, all my hoses show no signs of leaks or old age and my mechanic say the pressure is normal and therefore I don't have a leak.. However, my coolant level drops below the line causing my dash light to come on every few months - this never used to happen, what could it be?

How much can one expect to pay for a major tune-up on a Honda Accord LX with over 200K miles, and what services and parts should this cost include? The car runs fine and I expect it to last me at least another year or so. I just want to make sure I have an idea of what to expect on this kind of maintenance so I do not get ripped off.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Crew Cab 2wd. It has the 4.8l V-8 with the 4spd auto. The factory specs say is has 285 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Currnetly I get 16-17 MPG (city, and around 20-21 on the highway. I want to add some performance/mileage upgrades. My plans include a cat-back dual exhaust system (2 1/2" - mandrel bent, exiting under the rear bumper), a K&N Cold air intake (63 series ), a POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer, re-turning the CPU with a Superchip tuner, and switching to a synthetic oil. I am also planning on adding an auxillary engine oil cooler, and a transmission cooler. My question is this: With these upgrades what kind of power increase (numbers) can I expect?

My brakes are making a chirping/ high pitch noise when they are not applied. Like something is rubbing. The noise disappears totally when brakes applied. I have took off all 4 sides and taken the calipers apart and put back on with new pads and rotors. My suspicion is worn or incorrect pad shims... any mechanics experienced this or know if this is a likely cause? I know the calipers are good and don't stick and the slide pins are fine too.

My fan comes on now, and the car no longer has any hesitation, but I still have another problem which is causing my car to overheat. Whenever I've filled up the radiator with coolant, when I got back home from driving it(yes I did wait for it to cool), the coolant in the radiator had gone down A LOT(if not all of it). I had no idea where it was going. Come to find out the coolant in the reservoir had gone up and is now overflowing. What's happening is the coolant is going into the reservoir through the overflow hose, but for some reason it can't go back into the radiator. I have no idea what's causing this to happen

Since yesterday everytime I drive with the windows rolled down, I hear this hissing sound. The hissing disappears entirely when the windows are fully rolled up. Is there any way to determine what the problem is and fix it without an expensive mechanic?
