It's a 78 firebird I revved it up while it was parked to about 6000 rpms than it stalled. Now it won't start I've let it sit there for about 20 minutes I wonder if I just flooded it, or something more serious.

I was wondering what determines labor time. Is it the removal and replacement only or does it include diagnosing the problem. I know I am going to sound stupid, but hey you live and learn. I had problems with my fuses blowing for the signal lights. I took the car to a shop and they determined that I needed a backup light switch. I did not know anything about this and I let them replace it. They charged me $95.00 for labor and it took them less than 15 minutes to put the car on a lift and actually change it out. I did not think that was fair. What do you all think? Yes, I know I will get a lot of I should not have been so stupid, but I did not know, please be a nice to me, thanks.

The brakes on our 2001 Chevy Blazer are feeling spongy, got only slightly better with a flush of all the brake fluid. Also, the pedal slowly goes to the floor at a stop light...I think this is an indication of a master cylinder starting to go. Any way to find out for sure before replacing it? Any other ideas on what could be causing the problems?

My buddy carries a can of diesel and he puts about a quart of diesel in each time he fills his Cadillac with regular gasoline. This actually makes sense to me as the diesel would tend increase the resistance to knock. Any thoughts?

My brake pedal goes to the floor before my brakes engage, i only have about 1 1/2 in of pedal travel for the brakes which work fine when the pedal gets there, its not the master cylinder, i replaced it, its not air in the lines cause i bled them. What the hell is it????

Autozone, said it was from odb code P0436 (Catalyst Temperature Sensor Range/Performance (Bank 2)).
And recommended me buying a new O2 sensor and doing a tune-up. Should I buy new Valve and Head gaskets and do a tune-up, or could it be something else?

Are there any specific signs that the water pump is going out? I had th serpentine belt changed days ago and and now the low coolant light is coming on. I have to fill it up about every day and a half and am not sure if it is a hose or the pump. And it doesnt leak all the time. Usually after its not been driven for4-6 hours, then its a decent drip. Any idea whats going on? Also, the engine has about 133,000 miles on it.

my check engine light went on last Friday and went off Tuesday afternoon - I have a car appointment today and don't want to pay the diagnostic fee, but I could get a state inspection since it is up next month - will the state inspection pick up the same stuff that the toyota diagnostic machine would pick up (ex] O2 sensor, gas cap not tight enough, spark plug issues)?
