I was told that in older cars, if you use your air condition while driving causes your engine to burn more gas. Do that same thing applies to newer cars with these new state of the art engines?

ya in a way it does.. i know that it takes a lot of power to pump the ac. running the ac also makes your car run hot because the ac needs cool air just like you radatior but your ac cooler is in front of your radatior for your motor robbing it of cool air.. so all that load on the motor makes the gass milage go down. the same thing aplies to new cars but not as nearly as much as old cars. a help full hint if you car is overheating and your on the road. turn on the heater full blast. that acts like a nother radatior alowing hot water to cool off in another place.. thats why it takes so long in the winter to get a hot heater because your making it extra hard on your car to warm up... for a qucker heater turn everything off till it gets warm than turn it on..

New and old doesn't matter, really. The a/c is powered by the engine, the blower being powered on battery. The engine gains power from fuel, that's the reason why having the a/c on uses up fuel.
However, the difference is minimal, the air con uses up only 6.05% more fuel.

yes it does because it pulls horsepower from the engine, anything that has a belt and gets its power from the engine potentially takes away from the horsepower and of course takes away from the gas mileage you may not notice because the difference would be minor on 4 cylinders its more noticeable than on a 8 or diesel engine

Yes, just as turning anything on will put more drag on the engine and in turn, cause you to burn more gas. (Yes, even just having the radio on lowers your gas mileage a fraction of a percent)

Yes it does, but once you reach 55 miles per hour, you're better off using the AC than having the windows down. At that speed, the drag from having the windows rolled down costs more in fuel than having the windows up & the AC on.

no longer except this is interior your storage with the door closed! Carbon monoxide from the exhaust can kill you. outdoors in a properly ventilated section isn't any situation, different than for the reality that your engine could desire to overheat or run warm by using no longer shifting for a protracted volume of time, no longer too person-friendly, different than in older autos.

yes it does ,because the compressor puts more friction on the engine to turn makeing the rpm go up to keep running therefor makeing more gas ran through the intake.

While driving with the a/c uses more gas than driving without; driving with the windows down uses more gas than driving with the a/c on.

Yes it does, no need for a 12 line explanation here.

yes, you still burn more fuel.... not as much as an "old school" compressor that runs all the time, but you will still burn more fuel frm the added load from the compressor
