White smoke may indicate water entering the cylinders.
Check for coolant loss just in case, because coolant loss often means head gasket problems.
If the smoke from the exhaust has a strong smell of oil this could indicate that there is a problem with oil still burning and sometimes this is caused by the failure of engine oil seals such as valve stem seals which may allow oil into the bores. Often garages will carry out a system pressure test to determine where the problem lies. GOOD LUCK

several things can be the problem But you said white smoke that would be coolant burn oil should be blue you could have blown a head gasket because of over filling oil depending on how much you over filled your oil you could have caused the oil to blow back into the air filter and it would cause that kind of smoking but a differant color sounds like coolant burn i would check that first then if you find nothing take it to a shop and have them look at it they can be more detailed in there investigation.
Good luck

it probably just got on the motor... let it "burn" off. This will smell for a couple days, try running it on the highway or interstate that way it doesn't bother too many people.
Next time read how much oil it takes ans watch the dip stick as you fill it.

You might have a new leak. That smoke is the oil burning on the engine I believe. Take it to a trusted mechanic.

i hope it wasn't a big block. the smoke is probably just burning oil from outside the reservoir. if you can't afford to have it looked at, I wouldn't do anything about except watch to see if the smoke goes away after about 50 miles or so

White smoke??
That's more an indication of coolant leaking into the cylinders or intake system.
Black smoke is too much gas.
Blue smoke is oil burning.

If its blue smoke it is probably burning off the excess oil.
If its white then it might be steam rather than smoke and you could have blown your head gasket. But that would also affect the vehicles performance..

Maybe you spilled some on the engine or something, and it's just burning off.
