Hi everyone. I just got a used car, but it just won't go backwards. When in reverse gear, the car just sits still (even when I press on the gas peddle). Any suggestion as to what is wrong with it? How much do you think would cost to fix it?

The other day I completely rewired my boat trailer and replaced the tail lights on it. When I hook the trailer up to my truck, '99 Ford Ranger, the brake lights and turn signals work fine on my truck and trailer. When I turn on the headlights in the truck the tail lights on the trailer glow very brightly and wont respond to either the brakes or turn signals. I'm almost positive I have everything hooked up right with good splices and good grounds, due to the fact that everything works fine when the headlights are off. The lights I installed are the circular Peterson ones with a red wire, black wire, and a white wire for ground. Im pretty sure the red wires are brakes and the blacks are turn signals. I have no fuses blown in the vehicle either. Ive ruled out almost every possibility I can think of but Im not a professional by any means and dont have a lot of experience with this so any help would be much appreciated. Hurry I need to go fishing soon or I'm going to lose it!

Last night I tried to start my car, and it would not start up. There was a slight sound that it made when I tried. It was not a dead battery because the lights and everything were all working. After shaking the car from front to back I tried to start my car and it worked, only it didn't sound too good when I did. While driving, my lights and everything started to get dim and die out when I pressed the brake, but everything was fine when I was pressing the accelerator. Could anyone tell me what might be the problem? Earlier in the day I accidentally filled my car with gas while it was still running. Could this have created the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some one please help me on how to stop a car oil pan from leaking?

Well, that about sums it up. My brakes make a noise only in one situation - the first time I back down my driveway after I've been driving in the rain (even if I was driving in rain a full day before). My driveway is a downhill slope. While I'm backing down, there's some light squeaking. As I brake harder to come to a complete stop at the bottom of the hill, there's a deeper-pitched squeal.

The brakes stop the car just fine at all times.

Would you take your car to the mechanic with this? Or chalk it up to wet brakes & downhill momentum? I'd rather avoid spending money at the mechanic if possible, but you know, I'll go if I'm in danger of careening into my neighbor's yard.

I replaced left and right side rotors and brake calipers (pre-loaded set) I cleaned the rotors of any oil and bled the brakes when I was finished. Now after I drive the car for about 10-15 minutes, the brakes grab the wheels and will not allow the car to go over about 10 mph. Driving like this causes BOTH sides to become hot and smoke. What could I have done wrong? The calipers are on the right sides, I know that for a fact. Also, it seems that there is no "play" at all in the brake pedal, as soon as you touch it, they engage...its like they are too tight or something. I dont know what to do. Help please. thanks.

I rented my car from Budget. I damaged my car, my friend says I would have to change one tire, two tire caps, and probably one wheel.
The car is PT Cruiser. Should I contact the Budget and let them handle the problem, or should I fix by going to near auto shop and get it over?

Thans in advance for your answers.

I made one of these from sheet metal, and put it in my 95 aurora, then later my 95 lumina. They are supposed to increase air flow, giving better mpg's. Recently someone told me the better mpg's were a result of the insert actually starving the engine for air, which makes no sense to me. Ive gotten an increase of 2-3 mpg in each car after using it.
