I own a shop and if a fuel filter didn't fix it it may be time for the junk yard. Good luck. Hope this helps.

your fuel pump may be on the way out, take to a dealer or service centre, the fuel pressure should be around 55 to 62 psi +/- 3 psi. The life of a Gm pump is about 160,000 Kms (100,000 mi) unfortunately the pump is very expensive and about 2.5 hrs labour.
Another possibility is a plugged catalytic converter, there are after market cat's available a whole lot cheaper than GM, Good luck.

Several things, The spark plugs, module, converter and the plug wires if there is a noticeable misfire. If its carburetter be sure the filter in the carb is also new, sometimes the in-line fuel filter is replaced but not the carb filter. You can run a vacuum test and get more info that way also. Good Luck and GOD Bless

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 Gallons of gasoline???? Geez, i thought i became into slow, I in many circumstances can substitute them decrease than 30 seconds. gasoline will run out because of the fact of sometimes the Evap device applies a small volume of stress to the interior the gasoline tank to do leak tests, it relatively is rather minor stress besides the shown fact that that's adequate to reason the gasoline to proceed to expire, after some seconds of the gasoline working out, it exceptionally a lot creates its very own syphoning form deal. besides the shown fact that that's regular, you only must be a sprint faster next time. undecided how on the earth you be able to break the gasoline line whilst changing a filter out.. That gadget you used likely destroyed the top of the gasoline line. If it has the plastic clip on the top, those are the least confusing ones to do

Without looking at it, it sounds like a bad tps or fuel pump. The only way to know for sure is to check the codes, and I think that it is obd2 so you will have to find someone with the computer tools. Some part stores can do a simple code test, and don't charge for it.

Bummer for you..
Your fuel pump is going out.(yes the one in the tank)
It's only going to get worse.
In about a week, it will only idle.

Have the fuel pressure tested.12-15 psi. Anything less than 8psi, and you won't be able to go on the freeway.
Anything under 5 psi and you'll be luck to do 35mph.

ADDED:
The answer below me is wrong. TBI (Throttle Body Injection) is low pressure, not high pressure like TPI (Tuned Port Injection)

i dont know if you can adjust the timing or not,but if you can,try adjusting the timing and also run a test on the fuel pump, for voluum and pressure.
