First, take it into another shop for a second opinion. Women are targets for mechanics to rip off.
If it is truly a hole in the block, you can either fix it, and the mechanics will tell you the cheapest way to do that, or you can sell it as a "mechanic's special" for $200-500, depending on the body. When you buy your next car, bring a mechanic. Even if it's a friend of a friend, he'll be more than happy to help you out.

The 3.5 liter engine almost never has that problem not even leaky head gaskets you said radatior so the engine must of been severly overheated. I think you need a second opinion. Wrecking yard engine would be the way to go in this case. Some Salvaged engines have a 90 day warranty. Caution is in order most 90 day engines won't include the cost of re replacement. So buy the lowest mile engine you can. And have a good auto technician look it over and install it.

If you are still under warranty take it back, How did you find out about the hole in the block? If you need a used motor try car-parts.com They can link you up with just about all the wreckers. Your motor should run $900-1500 good luck

Hole in the block??? I doubt it.
Probably a steel freeze plug that has rusted through.
They are replaceable, but tough to get to.
See a good mechanic for an estimate.

Car care dealers always check the car before selling it to someone. It was entirely their fault because they did not perform this check.
You have full rights to do anything you want, because it is their fault.
