I'm having problems with my 2001 Mazda Tribute... it's recently started ideling rough, and going down the highway - usually between 40 and 55 mph. it starts jerking back and forth.. if I let off the gas it stops, or if I stomp on the gas it stops.. Another problem I've had since owning it ( I bought it used ) is around 45 mph. if I'm lugging it ( automatic transmission ) it will make a grinding kind of rattling sound under the car somewhere? If I'm able to speed past 45 mph. it doesn't do it at all.. I have no idea what either of these problems are - could the two problems be connected? What could it be?? Other than these two problems the car seems to run perfectly fine. It's really got me stumped.. I have No idea what it could be ?! Please help!!

I recently had to replace my intake manifold gaskets because of coolant leakage. When I had the lower intake manifold off the engine, I inspected it vigorously for cracks and I found none. But after putting everything back together and putting the bolts to torque, I noticed a crack beside the bolt behind the alternator. I was just wondering what I could do to possibly repair this crack. Even if it's only temporary. I was going to use JB weld but their site says not to use it on manifolds because the manifold could get higher than 500 degrees. Anyone used JB weld on an intake before with no problems? Is there anything else I can use to fix the crack? I don't want to braze it because of the possibility of warpage from the soft aluminum.

The oil light on my car came on as I turned a corner. I didn't realize until then that I had let it go so long with out a change. I checked the dip stick and there was no oil on it. I plan on taking it to a garage tomorrow. The nearest to me is about 25 miles away. Should I put a quart of oil in before I take it to ensure that I get there with out messing the engine up? Or Can I just wait? If I need to put more oil in, what kind should I put in?

I am totally stupid when it comes to car motors. Please forgive me for sounding so dumb.

I was driving down the road at about 40 mph. I saw that the light was red, so I pressed the brakes. There wasn't much resistance from the brakes and I ended up pressing the brake pedal to the floor, and yet, my car continued to move forward. I could press no harder than I was but the car kept strolling. Luckily the light turned green, and I avoided rear ending the person in front of me. I drove slow all the way home, still having the same problems. I put in brake fluid, but that didn't seem to help any. Could there be another reason for my brakes no longer working?

If your car won't start because the battery is low or dead, whats the greatest way I can use I battery charger if I can't find a jump start? Can I just hall out the battery charger with an extension cord, connected it and start? Or do I need to disconnect the battery cables first and wait a while? Or disconnect and not have to wait a while? thanks!

I have a white 1995 chevy. I got the touch up paint that is suppose to match, but it really doesn't and it looks like I put white nail polish on the spot. I was told to use a light sand paper only on the chipped spot so I did,it looks even worse because now it looks dull. I know it won't look perfect, but is there anything I can do to make it look a little better. If I use rubbing compound on it ,will that make it look better? There is no way I'm going to have any part of the car repainted either. Is the paint not matching because the paint on my car is old and has been in the sun and stuff? I have touched up spots on cars that were a darker color and did not have as much trouble, paint seems to match better with darker colors. I'm surprised because I thought white would be the easiest to touch up. So not true,it's the worst.

I'll try to describe: Imagine a two-wheel dolly with little (8" tall x6" wide) fat tires/aluminum rims, and a metal box with a lid (instead of a flat platform) that holds a car battery. A pair of thick cables run from the battery box to an engine starter (automotive size). The starter is mounted perpendicular on a bar shaped in a half circle (to be able to pick up & hold the starter) that also has a push-button/ solenoid setup attached where your right thumb could press. At the business end of the starter, instead of a gear (like a car starter) there is a flat disc with teeth. Also on this end is a smaller, flat metal, half circle piece for attaching the starter to whatever you want to spin or turn. So - you can pick up the starter, attach/ mount it temporarily to some kind of motor/engine/gear/something, press the button and make "something" spin. There are a few more idiosyncracies, but maybe you get the idea. Any thoughts? Have pics,Hope someone knows! Thanks in advance!!
