It depends on the compression ratio of the engine, and the person's advice to use what Ford recommends is correct.
Octane is used to prevent "pre-ignition", which, when it occurs, sounds like a "knock" or "ping" coming from the engine. What is happening is that the fuel is exploding due to the rapid temperature increase that occurs during compression, and not from the spark of ignition. Pre-ignition actually robs horsepower by igniting the air/fuel mixture much too early in the compression cycle.
Believe it or not, the fuel in a properly tuned engine does not explode; it burns quickly in the form of a rapidly, smoothly propagating flame. More like the "whump" you get when a gas stove ignites, than the "bang" of a firecracker.
It is a common misconception that using high octane fuel delivers more power, but that only applies to higher performance engines, which generally have higher compression ratios. Using it in a lower compression engine will yield little or no benefit.

honestly it would make a huge difference ...to your wallet! unless 1 your mfg suggests it or 2 you've done some mods to your car(i.e. tuned the ecu such as a superchips programmer or have done some serious work to your engine) youd be wasting your money.now unless you have a programmer(i have 1 for my truck ) and it has setting that specify a certain octane to use .89 is fine.im really not to sure why u wanna know about a higher octane imma guess more power? do a search for mustang forums. trust me youll find out things.

JAREAD could be terrific suited. That what it look like. The Engine generates incredibly some warmth. 5,000 F form stuff interior the cylinders. verify that Belt to confirm, odds are it would squeal on you. Your Thermostat is probably no longer responding speedy sufficient for the acceleration and Temperature upward thrust. could attempt a actual reliable one and not inventory. You do like it or the computing device bypass right into a loop circuit, thinking the engine chilly and could Flood with gasoline once you Idle.

if you use regular and then accelerate heavily from a dead stop and hear your engine rattling you need high test gas.
