Even though the cable is tight already - I have to disconnect and then reconnect. There is something either in the battery or the cable that interrupting the flow from the battery. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like a stuck relay problem, not a bad cable.

Clean the terminal and post, if that doesn't work, go buy a new terminal (something like $2, local Wal-Mart, auto parts store, just about anywhere that has car stuff), cut the wires, and bolt them right back onto the new terminal. If that doesn't work, check the battery. Take a Voltmeter, set it to 20 DCV, and read the battery. When the car's off it should read somewhere around the high 11 to mid 12. When running, it should read at least 13. Regardless of the application, a battery is a battery, and can be measured the same way. If the voltmeter reads something like 11.1 (when the car's off), and it is dropping, it's a bad battery, it isn'tholding a charge. If you turn it on, and read it, and it continues to fall (it will do so rapidly, and would probably require a jump), it's a bad alternator. But it sounds like you're having the same problem I just fixed. Does your interior accessories (such as dash lights, radio, etc) flash off and back on when you hit the brakes? I had a bad connection, and fixed it with a new terminal. It should be really easy, nothing needed but a wire cutter, wire stripper, and a few sockets and a ratchet.

Remove the cable and clean the terminal and battery post with a wire brush (to a silver color). Check for corrosion in the cable. Reattach and don't put grease or anything like that on the terminals. This should eliminate the battery connection as a problem.

For starters (ignore the pun) check the ohm of the wire itself. Clean all terminals and make sure the battery has juice.

Sounds like a bad connection, take it off, clean it well, then reconnect it, check your other connections as well.
