The dealer tells me it happened after a flat battery and jump start. Apparently the sat nav tracks ok...it just shows the vehicle way east of it's actual position.

Auto, Maintenance

My 2000 Neon has 197,000 KMs on it....never had a problem and it has been maintained on a regular basis.

The other day, I started my car, backed out of a parking spot, shifted to "drive" and as I creeped forward without accelerating, I felt a "bump" or a "knock" under my car. I attempted to stop the car and NOTHING! The brake pedal hit the floor without any stopping. I pumped a 2nd & 3rd time and I had NO BRAKES! After coasting very slowly around a corner, I pulled into a gas station and stopped this time WITH brakes. All of a sudden my brakes were back. This was 3 days ago.

Why would my brakes temporarily stop working? I literally had no brakes at all for about 2 minutes and then they came back. Also, I had my car in for a full service at 160,000 and my mechanic said everything looked good, no problems at all.

Can brakes stop working briefly and still be ok or is this the reult of a bigger problem?

I had some engine problems and decided to change the engine. 1996 3.0V6 with well over 200K Miles. New Engine installed, but I can't get it to start. Got fuel (i can smell it) got air! but it looks like no spark. Used an inductive timing light connected to output of coil, nothing. Changed coil, still nothing. Checked wires from ECU to coil, they are good. Changed ECU, still nothing. Now i'm out of idea's. Any suggestions? (and I own the donor vehicle and the engine does work)

I started having some trouble with my car. It had gotten to when you come to a stop in the car, it would rev to 2000 RPM's, and slowly go down to around 1000 RPM's. I had the codes read on the car, and they said that it was IAT Sensor 1 Circuit High Input. My question is, Is this the Intake Air Temperature Sensor? Where is it located on my car? Can anyone help me with this? They also said that there was an EVAP Emission Control System Leak. What is this, and how do I go about fixing it? Thanks in advance!

I am reposting this question because I didn't get very many responses the first time:

It seems as if the electrical wiring has gone crazy on my Cavalier. The horn, speedometer, and fuel gauge do not work anymore. The speedometer says I am going 90mph when I am stopped at a stop light!! I am desperately needing to get my horn fixed at the least because I have not been able to get my inspection renewed for the last 6 months. Has anyone else had this problem? How much was it to fix it?

I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina and it seems like every year they have to replace the catalytic converter.
I do take my car to the same mechanic,so he's not charging me to replace it.
Do I just have bad luck with the converters ? Or is he installing bad/used ones ? ?

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Just about four weeks ago the vehicle started running hot. I immediately started checking things and replaced the radiator cap. It seemed fine for the next few days. Once again started running hot so checked it out and the fan had gone out. I had it replaced about two weeks ago and yesterday the fan went out again. What could be the cause?

More info:
1. Checked the fan the first time by running a hotwire and fan did not come on. Replaced fan. (Never overheated) Jeep ran great until yesterday, except for some dimming of the lights, similar to when the alternator is going out. Could be coincidence....just started happening within past month.

2. Checked all fuses, coolant levels, allowed the vehicle to warm up and turned air on and fan does not come on. Have not run hotwire yet this time, but everything is same as last time.

3. Jeep only runs hot when idling.

4. Vehicle has 78,000 miles, no other issues, had all recommended servicing since new

I think my water pump has crapped out on my 1997 Jeep Cherokee. I have been leaking coolant for a few days now and there is a puddle under my Jeep after I turn it off and my reserve tank keeps emptying out on me. I replaced the lower radiator hose and still the same problem. It is not over heating so I am wondering if it IS a water pump problem? If it is, could I do the work myself?

Last night as I was driving I noticed that my Ford Windstar 1996 was not responding well. I was not able to travel at regular speed, as the car was stalling then jumping forward. I was trying to drive slowly to get to my destination as I did not want to stop. I felt I may not get it back on, and be left on the highway with my daughter. As I was driving about 20MPH if that much my RPM was wavering higher and higher - thus not correspondfing to my actual speed. What could this be and will it cost much?

In addition last August I had a rebuilt engine put in?
