Turn off all accessories in both cars.

Make sure cars do not touch.

Connect positive lead to dead battery positive terminal.

Connect positive lead to good battery positive terminal.

Connect negative lead to good battery negative terminal. *Make sure other negative lead is not in contact with anything*

Connect negative lead to ground NOT the negative terminal on the dead battery! The engine block or some part of the frame will do. Avoid aluminum parts.

Make sure cables are out of the way of moving parts.

Start car with good battery and wait for a few minutes then attempt to start dead car. If it fails to start or cranks slowly turn it off and wait a little longer.

Now connect red lead to positve side battery on charging vehical (make sure it is running and be careful of movig parts on engine) now connect black lead to any ground (an unpainted metal surface under hood) or to negative side battery. Now try to start engine.
