My 1999 Saxo 1.5D belches out loads of blue smoke when I start it up after its been sitting for a few hours. What causes this? Should I be worried? The car runs perfectly otherwise.

When shifting into 2nd gear, after our foot is off of the clutch it sometimes takes a few seconds for it to actually go into gear. Also, if we throw down the gas, it tends to feel as though it's slipping. Does this sound as though our clutch is going bad? How long should we drive it like this? How much is the approximate cost to replace it?

When I'm stuck in traffic, my car tends to heat up to over 95 degrees and then conks out and won't start again.
Its obviously something to do with temperature and that makes me think my fan might not be working properly, but it does make noise, so does anyone have any suggestions as to what else it could be?

By the way, its an Astra and is 13 years old. Old I know, but surely, still reliable...

I'm going to take it into the garage soon, but i want to go to them with some idea what might be causing the problem.

One final request, I'm not great (hence why I'm asking this question in the first place) on cars, so please go easy with me with any technical answers. Thanks.

Someone mentioned using a hairdryer or boiling hot water then just removing the badge. Won't this cause damage to the paintwork underneath?

Thanks

I had my car worked on recently and since I got it back the lights inside will not shut off even while driving or when the car is off. The only way I can make it shut off is by unhooking the battery. But that doesn't solve the problem. Any ideas what to do so I dont have to take it back to the shop? It's a '96 Ford Explorer.

I read somewhere that you can shake it and if it rattles its probably fried. I need to check my ABS relay in my 93 Buick Skylark.

I've got a T-reg Nissan micra 1.0 inspiration. Cheap jokes aside, when I accelerate and the car engine goes through a certain low hum frequency as it gains revs, it sets off a light rattle somewhere. This only happens in the low gears and only at certain revs. I can't pinpoint where it is, but it's like a rattling vibration noise - perhaps like jiggling an empty coke bottle on a wooden table? Maybe the hub caps? Maybe a loose spare wheel? Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the engine at all. Also the clutch peddle squeaks when you press and depress it, can i fix that?

My friend's car is making an extremely weird noise. When she turns the car, the wheels sound like they are going to fall off. We've taken it to the garage to have it checked out and they said they have checked EVERYTHING and cannot find a thing wrong with it...wheel bearings, etc etc.. The noise is still there. I know the guys at the garage aren't talking cr&p coz we been taking the car there for service for ages and they've always been upfront and honest with us (I know I know...hard to believe)....Any suggestions as to what the noise may be will be welcome!!

Cheers
