I started having some trouble with my car. It had gotten to when you come to a stop in the car, it would rev to 2000 RPM's, and slowly go down to around 1000 RPM's. I had the codes read on the car, and they said that it was IAT Sensor 1 Circuit High Input. My question is, Is this the Intake Air Temperature Sensor? Where is it located on my car? Can anyone help me with this? They also said that there was an EVAP Emission Control System Leak. What is this, and how do I go about fixing it? Thanks in advance!

Yes, the IAT sensor is located on the intake housing, on the saturn it's a black round tube. You will see two wires connected to the sensor mounted toward the injection side of the intake tube. The evap leak they found is just your gas cap. Replace the gas cap and the IAT sensor and you'll be good to go.

Ok. The EVAP leak could be as easy as a gas cap not on tight. Just take the cap off, then re-tighten. Keep turning the cap till you hear it click at lest 3 times. If that isn't the problem, You could have vacuum leak somewhere in the engine compartment.
The IAT Sensor Could be along the air intake tube coming from the air filter box to the engine, or on the Intake Manifold. If you talk to your local Saturn dealer's Parts Department they could direct you to it.

About having your code read. If you went to an auto parts store or had a friend's hand held code reader, those code scanners are very limited. The scanner only will pull the code stored in the cars computer. To pinpoint the problem, you would need to have a Computer Diagnostic performed. Any quality auto repair shop or the dealership's service department can do this. In my area it cost between $60-$80. It may be more or less in your area.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance

Here is a URL stuff for the Leak
http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/generic/p0442-evaporative-emission-control-system-leak-detected-small.php

Get the book and the the EVAP cannister may be on the left side. Look for something found, like a coffee can. Leaks can be from various things like a hose is loose or something. Hard to tell without me being there.

Suggestion: On your next fillup, put a bottle of STP gas additive for cleaning fuel injectors or something comporable. Now if you engine is dirty your car will start to run rough telling you that it is burning out the carbon slowly out. It will take two maybe three tankfuls and at least you can eliminate that problem. If you plan to keep the car for a year or so, then buy the book. Then if you ever ask a question here you will know what to say or what to look for besides free advice. hahaha

Yea everyone gives free advice but then I do everything but fix it for you. And only then if the price is right. lol

2000 SL-1 is the most troublesome in their line. However this is a simple fix. I would recommend buying a repair manual (YOU WILL NEED IT LATER) to locate the IAT sensor, replace, then move on to EVAP. EVAP could be a cracked hose or a cap off, take your time, check everything.

The IAT is located in the air intake housing leading to the air filter.
The Evap leak is either the hose from the intake to the canister, or the canister itself. These are pretty simple repairs that can be handled by the average shade tree mechanic.
