My daughter has a 92 Dogde Shadow and I had to change the alternater and put a new battery in the car, but now the car won't start what shold I do, I've changed the alternater twice, but now seems it's killing the new battery it sounds like put-put-put, please help she has to go back to school Wednesday

When you put in a new alternator you have to have a fully charged battery otherwise you may ruin the new alternator.


Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance

Some new batteries are no good. Have it & the alternator checked . Both should still be under warranty. When you sayit won't start, does that mean that the engine is spinning with th key turned to the start position but the engine will not run . Or The starter will not turn the engine.

You got a power draw someplace. Look for bared wires touching stuff it shouldn't. Otherwise give to mechanic.

simple test. start car, with the car running disconnect battery if the car stays running the altenator is good if the car dies its altenator related. this test works on 95% of vehicles.

You might need to take it to a mechanic. It might me an electrical problem as well.
