it should be on one side of the engine near the bottom and just before the transmission since it turns the flywheel to start the engine. dont forget to unhook the battery since some of the wires at the starter are live neg. first then back on last.

The hot battery cable will stop at the starter. Passenger side bolted to the front of the bell housing, alongside the engine

It is on the driver's side and mounted to the Transmission Bell housing. In order to see it, you must lay on your back under the car from the front, go under the main cross bar and look toward the back of the car. You will see a single cylinder mounted to the Trans. as well as the pos. cable coming from your battery. It is mounted so that the unit extends forward from the mounting bolts. It is about even with the driver's door hinges and about 1 foot away from the edge of the car, and is about a 3" diameter cylinder about 6 inches long.

First, recheck your test to see if the starter's really bad. Make sure your battery and battery cable connections are good. Make sure the starter solenoid gets battery voltage when you turn the ignition switch to "start". Make sure there's battery voltage at the starter when you try to crank the engine. You may be working on the wrong problem!
