I've been leaking radiator fluid for a while now and took my car in. The mechanic said I have a bad water pump. He quoted me $560 to replace it and said its a good idea while hes in there to replace the timing belt for an additional $175. I have a couple questions, first do i need to replace the timing belt? I want to sell this car ASAP so the least amount of work I have to do the better. OK second part of the question.... I called a mechanic all of my coworkers and our company uses, they quoted me $200 more than the original price but the accounting girl slipped me a name and number of a competitor under the table. She said she used to work for them and they would do it much cheaper because they are REALLY slow right now. They said if i bring it in tomorrow they'll do it for $300 (inclusive of pump, belt and labor). Does this sound too good to be true? I know it came from a good source but I'm nervous! Thats a HUGE price difference. Help!!

My wipers work fine, but when it comes time to shut them off, all of a sudden they shoot up and stay that way. What could be wrong and is it something easily fixed?

The heater core was clogged up. So I took the heater core out and replaced it. It was a lot of gunk in the pipes and in my radiator so I flushed everything with a water hose and with some radiator flush. Still isn't working. I'm guessing that some of the gunk is still in there somewhere but everything was flushed. I took pipes out and clean them and everything. My car isn't over heating so I don't think it's the thermostat. What else could it be. The blower is blowing more than ever before, the pipes in the engine are getting hot so heat is flowing but it's not blowing hot inside the car, it's not even getting warm. PLEASE HELP!

My Cherokee keeps making a popping sound when I turn. A friend told me it was the u-joint. Does the whole front axle have to come out to change it? Is the u-joint pressed into the axle?

I have a 1992 GMC Seirra & it runs great.
My problem is with the ignition modul.
In the last 18 months it's been replaced 6 or 7 times and a few times the coil also has been replaced.
I've had a complete tune up recently and it still keeps burning out.
The garage I go to has no idea why this keeps happining.
Is anyone able to please help me? This is driving me crazy.

I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra with about 11,000 miles on it which has started to rattle noisily when the brakes are engaged. The problem does not occur every time I put the brakes on and it ranges from a subtle rattle to a loud (and quite embarrasing) pounding like there is a jackhammer under my hood. What could cause this?

Vehicle is a 91 Chevy S10 Blazer with a 4.3L TBI. Vehicle starts, and idles alright, but has a extreme dead spot, and doesnt want to go more than 25 MPH. I removed the can style fuel filter, and connected a hose to the fuel line into a plastic milk jug. I cranked the engine over several times with the coil disconnected, and the milk jug only filled up about an inch of gas. Could the fuel pump be faulty?

Simple 4-Stroke runs fine, but has to be run on full throttle, as it dies on low. After a short time, it dies too? and you get this splutter of fuel and air coming back out the carb.

The exhaust fumes are not coloured, which indicates too much or too little fuel..
Thanks
Adam

I have a 2000 Infiniti I30 and the headlight covers are starting to turn yellow because of age. My friend said there's a technique called sanding where that yellow residue can be erased. I've never heard of that and don't know if it works. Do you have any ideas on how to get rid of that? I don't want to spend $450 to replace them.
