i have ahonda accord vtec,its three years old.today when i came from work and parked my car in garage,i left the engine running,out of curiosity i started aclerating the engine slowly and looking at ref counter when it reached 4500rpm it did not go futher. is there somthing wrong with engine or is it restricted so that u dont damage engine.

The motor probably has a rev limiter while in neutral.

It has a rev limiter on it so special needs people can't sit in their cars and needlessly over rev the engine!

Test it again and see if it is still running that high.
