I have an '06 Jeep Rubicon 6-speed regular wheelbase not unlimited. My input bearing is making noise (when the clutch is fully engaged but as soon as the clutch is pressed a 1/4 inch it goes quiet). I have cut my driving down and though i know its terrible for among other things the throwout bearing i have rested my foot on the clutch when not idiling (stoplights, coasting...) to avoid excessive wear on parts that are already worn, and since i have been doing that, the sound hasnt gotten worse like it did with good driving. I am extremely busy with work and school and havent had time to bring it in yet but hopefully soon. My real question is how long do i have if it is making a whirring sound with a possibly a hint of grinding (that is if I where to drive without foot on the clutch)?
