what weight oil did a 1998 cobra use from the factory? i just bought one and the guy says he always puts 5w-30 in it but i'm not sure. any help would be appreciated. thanks

Stay with the 5W 30 SAE. It is what is recommended, and the current classification is SM.
Meet all these specs, and you are set to go.
Be certain to purchase quality oil. It doesn't need to be synthetic necessarily, but the engine oil is the life blood of the engine. Don't skimp here.
If the car has high mileage (>140K), consider a high-mileage alternative. The chemical and detergent package is better suited to the greater miles.

That should be good. Can even use 10w30, too.
