I was driving and noticed that my engine had begun to rumble, as if exhaust was leaking from the manifold. I opened the hood and noticed a wire hanging just below the intake manifold. I don't have the precise vocabulary to describe it, but it looks to be the O2 Sensor. The funny thing is I can see the hole it appears to have come out of (the hole is on a pipe just below the engine and looks like it leads from the undercarriage to the front of the car...if that makes sense) The hold has a metal filter in the bottom of it, but I can't seem to put the plug back into the pipe; it is as though the plug perfected rusted off of the pipe. Does anyone know what I am referring to and what it might actually be called?
It might not be the O2 Sensor, but it is definitely a sensor of some time. It is part of the assembly of wires connecting the spark plugs, distributor cap, etc. There are two wires that connect to the "pipe" that I'm calling the "exhaust manifold".
