I just fixed my own car..change the alternator and now its running again..and I feel great knowing I didnt need some redneck mech to fix it..you know the mech cheats you out of cash by tripling the price of the parts..

It is great that you can fix your own car, but all mechanics are not redneck crooks as you think. You talk junk now. Wait till you have a real problem.

Not all mechanics cheat potential customers. Still, the cheater base number overall is signifigant that there's a "reputation" that legitimate auto repair mech guys have to fight against.

But to fix a major auto mechanical issue on your own DOES give you a high; as it did me years ago, when I changed out radiatiors.

It's a way to save some cash, provided you do the job adequately. And I have fixed others cars to save them money and MAKE me some extra cash.

a feeling of accomplishment. and mechanics usually get you with labor not parts(normally 15-20% over cost)
