The car is a stick-shift (manual transmission) and sometimes when i'm shiftin gears (especially from first to second), it kinda grinds (makes an abrasive noise) yet the clutch is all the way in. It does get into gear but makes this gridning noise in the process. This even sometimes happens when im shifting into first gear with the clutch completely in and the car at a standstill. What could the problem be adn is it easy/cost efficient to fix?

I'm thinking of buying a 98-2000 XK8 and wonder what years had these expensive problems. What are average maintenance costs per year? How much is a tune up, oil change,60k maintenance? The cars look cool, prices have dropped, I was disappointed by the acceleration-but it's all good. I appreciate you feedback!

It's completely unscrewed, but will not lift up off of the radiator. I need to add water to my engine until I can get some coolant, because it overheated a couple hours ago.

Does the water go into the reservoir that says "engine fluid only" rather than into the actual radiator? I really don't think my cap will come off.

It's okay to pour water into the radiator, though, right? Engine's cooled down a lot, so I shouldn't have to worry about cracking the block or anything. Not mechanical at all....water ('til I get coolant) goes into the radiator only, and coolant into the "engine coolant only" reservoir, right?

Do CV Shafts only operate when the car is moving (driving) or does it also operate even when the car is on but not moving? also how do you know if there is something wrong with it, does it make noises like screeching sounds or squeeling sounds?

I have a '97 Dodge Dakota that does have high mileage, but runs fine. I just got the oil changed, and now at low RPMs the oil guage will drop and the light will come on. Has this happened to anyone and if so, how was it resolved?

I am a technician with 25 yrs experience. Although the bulk of it has been with gm vehicles, I still do a lot of import work. The problem I have is that i am replacing outer cv boots on a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. I have the axle separated from the steering knuckle and cut the old boot away. The problem is that i dont know how to release the outer joint from the axle. I dont see any snap ring in the joint. Could someone knowlegeable about the product tell me how the joint separates.

Does anyone have a rough idea how much it would cost to restore an old Japanese car, say, an old Nissan 300ZX? Assume that the engine, transmission, external paint, and interior all need to be repaired or replaced, but it doesn't have to be exactly like the original parts. (I know this is a crazy idea -- just wondering.)

I can't seem to find any websites that provide such an estimate.

Thanks a lot!

I went out ot my 2002 Chevy Impala tonight and found a puddle of water in the front passenger side floor (no anti-freeze). I haven't had any problem with the heat or defrost, just this all of a sudden. My father says it may be the heater core, my friends at auto zone said it may be the hoses that come through the fire wall into the dash. How do I know which one it is? Also, are heater cores expensive and how long does it take to replace, I'm going to Columbus tomorrow to get ready for the Ohio State/Michigan game and I wanted to drive. Thankx
