Sounds like you may be putting the oil in the wrong place. If it's engine oil you want to add you want to take off the cap that says engine oil. I've seen something similar happen. The women added oil but she put it in the transaxle instead of the engine so be sure you are not puttin the oil in the transmission, also if the car is hot or not on level ground you will get the wrong reading so be sure these things are takin care of before checking the oil.

Bad valve guide seals, warn valve guides, worn piston rings all are causes for you to be 'consuming' loosing oil. You don't have to be towing a huge blue cloud to be burning oil. With the kind of miles you stated, being a convertible Camero, it has probably seen its fair share of un-fair wear and tear.

How many miles do you drive before you need to add a quart?

has to be burning the oil, motor needs rebuilt, if it's using that much oil it has to be smoking out the tail pipe, you should be able to see it smoke if you look in your rear view mirror as you are driving while coasting down a hill or accelerating heavily.
