its a mazda 626 and I've been told it's the distributer but it has a coil pack?

Then it's the ignition module under the coil pack or the coil pack itself. When it's dry and will run Take a spray bottle filled with water and spray the coil pack and module and see if the car cuts off or runs funny. Then you've figured out that it's one of those part's

It may be the coil pack. My 1986 Mazda 323 would just die for no reason, and it took the dealer a year to figure that out. The pack was replaced for about $300, and all was well, even after 120K on the odometer when I sold it.

i know this may sound weird but i had the same problem,but with a ford,had a coil pack too,but it was my fuel pump,for some reason it just wouldnt start on rainy,damp,humid day,i know this sounds weird but it happened to me,thought it was coil pack,plugs wires but didnt help,maybe this could be something to look at if the others dont work

could be a cracked coil, or bad plug wires. to check it get a spray bottle and squirt water on the plug wires and the coil, see if it starts to run rough. do this on a dry day when its running good to start with.

mine use to be hard starting too.i have a 88 olds,and i sprayed wd40 on the connection of the coil pack,and that fixed mine.whats wrong is it is drawing damp.

i own a repair shop,and i think you need a new set of plug wires on it, i have replaced a lot of them ,for that same reason,and they all seem to do the same thing,but it usually is the wires ,that causes this,and its a fairly cheap repair to make,its better than paying a big repair bill at a repair shop,,good luck,i hope this help,s,,and have a good Thanksgiving.

Check your plugs and wires and take a look at your starter, check out your alternator and your battery

moisture on the distributor cap can have that effect
