i have an acura rsx. i am starting to hear a wierd sound when i drive. A friend told me this is a warning sign

warning me that it is almost time to get new brake pads. Is this true

Not enough information to do the question justice, However thinking brakes, they have a wear indicator that makes a scraping noise hen you apply the brakes. Best to change the brake before they damage a rotor or drum.

With that info is hard to tell, but if the noise changes when you apply the brakes, then it is very likely that you need new brake pads.
